The Milton Market, formerly known as the Milton Farmer's Market is in its fourth year. It was originally created by Tim and Ginger Enloe in 2009 as a way for local gardeners to sell their extra fruits and vegetables. Other residents were interested in selling their goods, so the market grew to offer a variety of goods. The Enloes found it harder and harder to devote time to the organization of the yearly market, so they asked Zack Eller, 16, of Milton to take over. Zack and his brother Thomas had been vendors at the market selling their homemade dog biscuits to raise money for pet rescue (www.woofemdown.com).
Zack had a vision for the market that was a little different. He wanted to involve the youth of Milton and even more products and services. He wanted the local citizens to have a place to mingle and share their goods. He was so successful in starting his own dog biscuit business that he wanted other young people to have a place to sell something. Now even kids can raise money by holding bake sales or craft sales. Kids can earn money for themselves or for their scout group, favorite charity or youth group.
Fruits and vegetables will be available as well as other goods and services. The 2012 Milton Market will be managed by Linda Neal of Neal's Produce.
